Centrally located

The hostel is situated right in the heart of the Dresden Neustadt quarter. This is the lively trendy district in Dresden, with lots of pubs, clubs and small stores.
The baroque downtown is situated on the other side of the river Elbe, a nice walk away.

It's 4 tram stops to the historic downtown, the closest train station "Dresden-Neustadt" is in 20min walking distance, the main train station is about 30min away by tram. The next tram stop is only 2min away from the hostel.

Our district, the "Neustadt", is Europe's biggest contiguous Gründerzeit quarter. Because it was hardly destroyed in the war you will find here some of the actual oldest buildings in Dresden. In the socialist times the district was neglacted, it was close complete demolition. The situation gave lots of space to young people, artists and students. After the change in 1989, the neighborhood developed into Dresden's trendy disctrict, similar to Berlin Friedrichshain or Hamburg's Schanzenviertel. Today the Neustadt is still the most lively area in Dresden, with lots of pubs, bars, street life and street art.

In Dresden, the downtown is not one compact area like in many other towns. On an axis from South to North, first after the main train station comes the shopping area, then the historic baroque downtown followed on the other side of the river by the "new town", where it's particulary lively in the evenings.

While there is not much going on in the area around the main train station (except shopping during the day) and the historic part is mainly deserted after dark, in the Neustadt area is always something happening (though not so much in the mornings :-))
