What to do in Dresden during winter season Part II<\/p>\n

Last week we published the\u00a0first Part<\/a>. In the meantime\u00a0we did some brainstorming to come up with more. So today we want to give you some more ideas of what you could do during the winter season.<\/p>\n

Relaxing Walks through the nearby Dresdner Heide
\n<\/strong><\/p>\n

\"Karte_Dresdner_Heide\"<\/p>\n

There is a huge forest – the so called Dresdner Heide – just around the corner from the hostel. The entrance is about 5min away from us.<\/p>\n

Checkout this website<\/a>\u00a0for some tour suggestions.
\nFor example there is a nice tour to a gravel-pit<\/a>\u00a0with a fantastic view, or a longer but nice one to the Heidem\u00fchle<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Towers of Dresden<\/strong><\/p>\n

Visit one of the many towers of Dresden and get a fantastic wide view from above.
\nVisit the Kreuzkirche<\/a>\u00a0(platform at 54m), \u00a0the Church of our ladies<\/a>\u00a0(platform at 67m), castle \/\u00a0Hausmannsturm<\/a> (viewing platform at 38,62m), Rathausturm<\/a>\u00a0(platform at 68m), Dreik\u00f6nigskirche<\/a>\u00a0(platform at 45m), or you can go and have a coffee at the highest beer garden\u00a0in the Yenidze Kuppelrestaurant<\/a>.<\/p>\n

There is also a junk shop on Stetzscher Stra\u00dfe inside an old factory hall. You’ll find it on the USE-IT Map Dresden<\/a> (No 38). You’ll find everything starting from wedding dresses, to furniture, books or records. Have fun haggling.<\/p>\n

Botanic Garden
\n<\/strong>If it’s too cold outside and you are hanging for some tropic flair, you should visit the botanic garden<\/a>. Btw: free entry

Garden City of Hellerau<\/strong>
\nHellerau is also known for its beautiful gardens\u00a0and as the first garden city in Germany<\/a>. It has it’s own center of arts. See the plan for shows and theatre acts.<\/a>\u00a0Sometimes you can see the dancers of the Palucca university<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Famous “Kreuzchor” choir @ Kreuzkirche<\/strong>
\nIf you want to listen to the famous choir you can attend the vespers each Saturday <\/a>at 5pm. (entry 2\u20ac, 1h duration)<\/p>\n

City Tour by tram 11<\/strong>
\nIf you buy yourself a single trip ticket for 2,30\u20ac you can take a ride through Dresden for 1h and visit most of the areas from B\u00fchlau to Zschertnitz. here is the timetable with all stops<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Dresden Fortress<\/strong>
\nVisit the Dresden fortress<\/a> and discover old subterranean vaults. Learn something about the\u00a0defense strategy of Dresden\u2019s bastioned fortification.

Technische Sammlungen Dresden<\/strong>
\nIt’s all about testing and experiencing science. There are all kinds of sections like math, science fiction, physics, astronautics all kinds of experimental science or\u00a0computer gaming. Visit their website<\/a> for more information.<\/p>\n

\n<\/strong>And of course there are different “free” tours. The tour itself is for free, but at the end you tip the guide what ever you valued the tour.
