best festival in town- BRN

Summer is coming! And what would be a summer without our favourite BRN Festival? The biggest meet- the- neighbourhood- event of the year!

The unique proposition of it is that there’s not one event management that is responsable for the whole festival but each inhabitant, pub, club and organisation. So you’ll find many different things with its own character. There’s no corporated design but lots of lovely selfmade actions. There will be a huge variety of  free concerts, partys, food, theatre and animation events on programme, all weekend long!

By the way BRN means in German Bunte Republik Neustadt and in English Colourful Republic of (Dresden-) Neustadt.

As every year we will also have a small stage in front of Lollis Homestay Hostel with a good choice of local and non- local bands. Do not mind the loud music, but come down to dance with us all night long :-)

The BRN takes place from the 15th to the 17th of June 2012.

movie about a trip to Japan

On Saturday the 25th of February we will show a movie of a guest who travelled to Japan. Its about a trip to central Japan in November 2011.  You will see Japan from a non touristic perspective and the guy who travelled there will be around and tell something about his trip and is happy to answer your questions.  You will see Nagoya Seaport, Ise Jingu (the big shrine from Ise), Oigawa Tetsudo (historical steam train), Kyoto (historical places like Kingaku-ji, Gingaku-ji world heritage), Kanazawa (a wedding, Ninja temple and historical Samurai houses), Shirakawa -go, (historical original farmer village), the Noto pensinsula and 3 days Tokyo.

The show will start at 8pm.  Like always its free, no cover fee.

Bandtext in deutsch:

new small gallery in the Neustadt

Its only one window next to the street.  There will be a different exhibition every week.  For more and up to date info check out the blog of the „land on the sand“ – gallery.

To find the place, the easiest is to go on a Sunday to the vernisage, the meeting point will be the Artesian Well on Albertplatz at 7 pm.

This small 24 / 7 gallery opened on 01.01.2012 with the first opening.

The idea for this offer came up on a journey through Bohemia and the visit of Chezky Krumlov. Since 2010 already there is the „Stolen Gallery“ – the Ukradena Gallery.  You can find this also in five other cities across Europe,

It is a „project of experiential street art,“ where in urban areas a small wall board will be used as an exhibition space.

Every Sunday, the meeting point is on Albert Square – Artesian wells at 19:00 hours and have a tour for the vernissage and finissage of the „LandaufdemSand“ – Gallery .

It is planned to visit another gallery in Dresden Neustadt and the surrounding area.
Keep your fingers crossed, that the owner of the galleries open up the doors benevolently on Sunday evening.
