Hey guys,
this years medieval christmas market just opened it’s doors to the public located inside the stable yard! It’ll be open until the 23rd December from 11am till 9.30pm.
The stable yard used to be part of the residential castle of Dresden. It used to be the location for many horseshows. It’s one of the oldest show places in Germany you can visit.
This christmas market is kept close to the medieval theme. You’ll find no plastic, nearly no electrical light and no nonstop-christmas-carols :)
All merchants are dressed accordingly and are working with typical tools and materials. So you’ll see real craftsmen.
Talk to the blacksmith, tanner or cabinetmaker about their work.
There is a little stage where you can listen to some typical music or watch short theater plays.
Especially on weekend there are well known medieval bands playing or you can watch some nice fire shows. Just check the homepage for the program.
During the week there is free entry. Only during the weekend you’ll have to pay 3€. But it’s worth it :)
For further information you can visit the official website.
Until the 31st of May 2015 you can visit the exhibition by Yadegar Asis inside the Panometer Dresden.
Today 70 years ago the allied forces bombed the Dresden city and destroyed most of it. You can see the result on a 360° panorama – titled “DRESDEN 1945”.
The bombing is visualized on a scale of 1:1 – viewed from the city town hall.

Craziest experience during my time working for Lollis Homestay?
>> Every „Office Christmas Party“ with the colleagues is crazy! You get to know the people, who work with you in such a different way. Everytime the atmosphere is so joyful and we always end up somewhere in the “Neustadt“. Christmas brings out the best in us. :) For more details you better speak to me directly.<<
Most beautiful memory form my time at Lollis?
>> In the summer I teach German to our guests every Tuesday. One time after one of these 1-hour-beginner-courses a russian lady thanked me and gave me a „Matruschka-hanger“. It’s great to know that guests enjoy the lessons and this was a very kind way to thank me. <<
What I love about Lollis Homestay?
>> Of course the colleagues, the work atmosphere and the guests. But most of all, Lollis is a place of creativity. Through the hostel I got to know „USE-IT“ (http://www.use-it.travel/home). Together with some of my colleagues and other locals we publish a commercial free, up to date and cost-free city map every year. It’s important to us to pormote local insider-tips, only with these you get to know the real Dresden. <<
