new small gallery in the Neustadt

Its only one window next to the street.  There will be a different exhibition every week.  For more and up to date info check out the blog of the „land on the sand“ – gallery.

To find the place, the easiest is to go on a Sunday to the vernisage, the meeting point will be the Artesian Well on Albertplatz at 7 pm.

This small 24 / 7 gallery opened on 01.01.2012 with the first opening.

The idea for this offer came up on a journey through Bohemia and the visit of Chezky Krumlov. Since 2010 already there is the „Stolen Gallery“ – the Ukradena Gallery.  You can find this also in five other cities across Europe,

It is a „project of experiential street art,“ where in urban areas a small wall board will be used as an exhibition space.

Every Sunday, the meeting point is on Albert Square – Artesian wells at 19:00 hours and have a tour for the vernissage and finissage of the „LandaufdemSand“ – Gallery .

It is planned to visit another gallery in Dresden Neustadt and the surrounding area.
Keep your fingers crossed, that the owner of the galleries open up the doors benevolently on Sunday evening.

New Year’s eve? And now?

You don´t know what to do on new year? We help you out!

First the best spots in Dresden to watch the firework (don´t forget to take the regions typical Rotkäppchen sparkling wine with you („Sekt“, buy it in the supermarket):

  1. On the Schwebebahn in Loschwitz quarter, one of the finest in Dresden, high situated on the cableway station is a platform from where you get the best view over the Blue Wonder Bridge, the Elbe Valley and the Old Town. Take tram no 6 or bus no 61 till Körnerplatz or Schillerplatz, from there walk up the hill. It is maybe better to follow the crowds to get sure, you will not getting lost.
  2. Castle Albrechtsberg, one of my favourite places, romantic balcony, in front of you the breathtaking view and behind you the romantic castle and it´s Roman Bath fountain, here you get definitely the best view for one of Dresdens finest fireworks, and of course you will see everything else from there too. Take tram no 11 to Schloss Albrechtsberg and walk through the big gate, take the stairs down right in the garden to the balcony.
  3. if you want to be right in the event, you should go to the Augustusbrücke directly in the Old Town, watch the people, listen to the loud party people and be part of the happening. Walk or take tram no 8, very crowded and crazy!!

What else should you know? 10 seconds before the old year becomes the new year, we’re doing the countdown and clink glasses! Ehh, yeah we’d like do make our own fireworks, so everybody buys a lot of fire crackers and rockets for a lot of money and tries to hit the sky or the others! Beware of crazy Germans! ;-)

new Museum about Military History from Libeskind in Dresden

They‘ ve constructed this museum for a very long period of time and slowly I became more and more curious, even if I stayed very critical against a Museum about  military history. But now after I got some informations about this completely new Museum about Military History  my feeling became more and more positive (I also heard that Nazis avoid the new Museum, which is very good!). The exhibitions about war in its history changed to a modern and very critical point of view.

Daniel Libeskind is one of the most important architects of the 21st century. The huge metall wedge, which pops into the new renovated historical building joins the ranks with worldwide known Libeskind- museum, like the Jewish Museum in Berlin or the Imperial War Museum in Manchester.

Olbrichtplatz 2, 01099 Dresden (only 10 minutes on foot from Lollis Homestay)

Thursday to Tuesday 10 am to 6 pm
Monday 10 am to 9 pm
The museum is closed on Wednesday.

the entry is free till the end of this year.
